The Dockers Derby will take place for the first time in 14 years this September
The 2026/27 Championship season is just over a month from beginning on Friday, August 14th, with supporters of the 24 clubs in the division getting more and more excited about the new campaign as time goes on.
Indeed, the country has certainly been immersed in the fever surrounding the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States, Canada and Mexico for the past month or so, but once the tournament ends, rivalries across the Premier League, Championship, League One and League Two will be immediately renewed.
And, it is fair to say that the bulk of those hotly-contested clashes will come in the second tier, with several local derbies and recently established rivalries taking place throughout the gruelling 46-game campaign.
However, many neutrals, as well as the supporters of both London clubs, are already counting down the days until the first of two clashes between West Ham United and Millwall kicks off in the Dockers derby.
It will be the first time since a 2-1 win for the Hammers in February 2012 that the fixture has taken place in any competition, with the East London outfit gaining promotion back to the Premier League months later under Sam Allardyce.
But, just three years on from lifting the UEFA Conference League trophy in Prague, West Ham were relegated from the top-flight for the first time in 14 seasons under Nuno Espírito Santo, despite accumulating a total of 39 points.
That said, Millwall missed the chance to leapfrog their rivals in the pyramid and play top-flight football for the first time in 36 years, coming third in the regular season before losing to Hull City in the play-off semi-finals.
As a result, several comparisons are due to be made between both clubs, and FLW have looked at how much both clubs are set to charge for a home ticket this season.

Despite being relegated from the Premier League, the 62,000-seater London Stadium still held the division's second-highest average attendance, and Hammers fans have already showcased their loyalty for the upcoming season by selling over 40,000 season tickets well in advance of the first game, which comes away to Burnley on August 16th.
Although the Irons have plenty of financial ground to make up after being relegated, the cost of a season ticket was reduced between 5% and 30% ahead of the new season for those opting to renew.
An adult or an Under-21s season ticket will now set supporters back £1,200 in the most expensive areas of the stadium compared to £1,720, and that comes in spite of the fact there will be four more league matches at the London Stadium in the Championship.
As a result, if season ticket averages were used as a benchmark, a home ticket for a one-off match could still set a supporter back as much as £52, with Championship regulations allowing such prices compared to a £30 cap for away supporters in the Premier League.

By contrast, Millwall's most expensive season ticket at The Den comes in the upper tier of the Barry Kitchener Stand, with those attending all 23 home league fixtures having to part with £622 of their hard-earned money, and that is just over £300 more than the cheapest adult season ticket in 'band 6' of the London Stadium.
The cheapest adult season ticket in SE16 also comes in at £586, though, which doesn't allow much room to manouvre in a financial sense for the club's longest-serving supporters.
However, with the most expensive season ticket still significantly lower in price than what is on offer in E20, those willing to attend a one-off game at The Den may only need to part with around £27, if those prices divided by the amount of regular-season home fixtures are taken into account.
That said, until the season gets deeper and deeper, we will not be able to fully see which fanbase gets a greater value for money in terms of entertainment on the pitch.
