Sunderland’s squad valuation and how it compares across the Premier League has been set out as the club prepare to bolster Regis Le Bris’ squad for a maiden Europa League campaign.
According to Transfermarkt, Manchester City are valued at €1.32bn, Arsenal at €1.25bn and Chelsea at €1.11bn. Sunderland are listed at €386.43m, below Everton at €443.15m and above Leeds United at €358.80m and Fulham at €356.20m. Ipswich Town, Coventry City and Hull City are shown at €212.95m, €194.25m and €95.90m respectively.
Last season’s seventh-placed finish secured only the second European campaign in the club’s history and the first since Bob Stokoe’s 1973 FA Cup winners went into the following season’s Cup Winners’ Cup.
The platform was built by an ambitious window last summer, with club-record deals for midfielders Enzo Le Fee and Habib Diarra. Getafe defender Omar Alderete arrived, as did Dutch duo Robin Roefs and Brian Brobbey, while former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka returned from Bayer Leverkusen.
This summer is not expected to be as frenetic, though further strengthening is understood to be required if Sunderland are to build on a memorable campaign. Their valuation has increased since promotion, with comparisons to established Premier League squads underlining the scale of the task ahead.
