Scottish Premiership title could hinge on outcome of action at Celtic Park
Celtic host Rangers this evening in an Old Firm derby which could decide the outcome of the Scottish Premiership title race.
Martin O’Neill’s second-placed Celtic came into the weekend trailing leaders Hearts by three points with three matches left to play, but that difference has grown to just four after Hearts were held to a 1-1 draw by Motherwell.
Rangers, meanwhile, trail Celtic by four points, and could throw a true spanner in their cross-town rivals’ title charge with a win today.
Recent form has not been kind to Rangers, though. They were narrowly beaten by Motherwell two weeks ago, and were then edged by Hearts last time out after Lawrence Shankland struck a second-half winner.
That spell leaves them seven points adrift of the leaders Hearts, all but quashing their title hopes.
In contrast, today’s hosts are in gear and cruising towards the finish line. Celtic have won four on the spin, and tasted defeat just once in their last nine outings.
At this rate, the title race may well be decided on the final day of the season when Celtic host Hearts.
