Lee Grant became new Huddersfield Town boss this past summer – his first managerial role.
Grant certainly has good pedigree, though, having spent the last three seasons on Kieran McKenna's staff at Ipswich Town.
Despite being a goalkeeper by trade, Grant was a forwards coach at Portman Road and his work obviously helped the Tractor Boys thrive.
They netted 193 goals across two league campaigns en route to securing back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.
The 42-year-old played between the sticks for Derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Burnley, Stoke City and Manchester United before retiring and taking up his coaching post with McKenna.
Grant is one of only two managers in the top four tiers to have played professionally as a goalkeeper, alongside Bromley manager Andy Woodman.
His Huddersfield team have started their League One campaign very well, winning five, drawing one and losing three of their first nine matches to place them fifth in the table.
They beat Sunderland on penalties to reach this stage of the Carabao Cup after playing out a 1-1 draw in normal time at the Stadium of Light.
Our last meeting with Huddersfield saw us defeat the Terriers 5-0 in a January 2024 FA Cup clash.Phil Foden bagged a brace while Julian Alvarez and
Jeremy Doku scored either side of a Ben Jackson own-goal at the Etihad.
Our last game at the Accu Stadium saw a 3-0 triumph for City in the Premier League in January 2019, goals coming from Danilo, Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.
The last time we faced Huddersfield in the League Cup was way back in the 1968/69 campaign.
We drew 0-0 away setting up a replay at Maine Road which we won 4-0 thanks to a double by Mike Summerbee, an effort from Colin Bell and an own-goal by Roy Ellam in front of a crowd of 26,948.
We went out 1-0 at home to Blackpool in the next round unfortunately but we did finish that season with two trophies, beating West Brom 6-1 in the Charity Shield to start the campaign and Leicester 1-0 to lift the FA Cup towards the end of it.
After an intense week, which included a 3-0 win over Manchester United and 2-0 triumph over Napoli, Pep Guardiola's squad completed the seven days with a 1-1 draw at Arsenal.
Erling Haaland fired City into an early lead with a composed finish on nine minutes.
But an equaliser from Gabriel Martinelli, deep into stoppage time, meant the spoils were shared.
