Hugo Souza reached 100 appearances for Corinthians in the 1-0 win over São Bernardo on 15 February in the Campeonato Paulista. He was honoured before the Coritiba match on Wednesday.

"I am very happy with this milestone, an incredible story we are building together. Since I arrived at the club I was made very welcome. Everyone embraced me in a way I did not expect, the club, staff and supporters. I can only say thank you," he told Corinthians TV.

A club video marked the milestone, showing key saves and the tribute from president Osmar Stabile and executive Marcelo Paz during the Coritiba game.

"I am very grateful to God for allowing me to reach this milestone and to write a beautiful story at this giant club that has truly changed my life. I think the only way to show that is on the pitch, giving everything. One hundred games, may another 100 and however many more come."

The goalkeeper joined Corinthians in July 2024 after the departures of Cássio and Carlos Miguel. Since arriving he has been a regular pick for successive coaching teams and popular with supporters. He helped win three titles, Paulista 2025, Copa do Brasil 2025 and Supercopa do Brasil 2026.

With 14 penalty saves he is third on the club’s all-time list behind Cássio and Ronaldo, and he has the best rate, one every 7.28 games, compared with 22.25 for Cássio and 22.29 for Ronaldo.

His form has brought successive Brazil call-ups, and with the World Cup approaching he could represent the club at the tournament. He is on 105 games, with 51 wins, 28 draws and 26 losses, and if he features at Santos on Sunday at 16:00 at Vila Belmiro it will be his 106th.
