Hugo Souza reacts to World Cup omission, pledges support for Brazil | OneFootball

Hugo Souza has addressed his omission from Brazil’s World Cup squad after the announcement on Monday, thanking supporters and promising to keep backing the team.

According to Globo.com, the Corinthians goalkeeper posted that setbacks are part of football and life, describing them as fuel to do more, and that he would be cheering from afar.

In his news conference, Carlo Ancelotti voiced regret over those left out, naming Hugo among them, and indicated that prospects such as Andrey Santos and João Pedro would have chances in the next World Cup project.

He added that Alisson is returning from injury, should play the next match and will have time to be 100%. Brazil tested Bento, Hugo Souza and John this year, but opted for experience.

Brazil’s goalkeepers for the tournament are Alisson of Liverpool, Ederson of Fenerbahçe and Weverton of Grêmio.
