A year after leaving Leeds United, Junior Firpo could be heading back to Yorkshire, with Hull City interested in luring the left-back, according to Noticias Betis.
His return to Real Betis has faltered, despite reuniting with former Leeds midfielder Marc Roca. Injury and a loss of rhythm restricted him to 16 appearances in all competitions, only 12 in La Liga. Manuel Pellegrini has told him he can leave.
Any Hull move would hinge on wages. Firpo is on about £58,000 a week, roughly €3.5m a year, and is among Betis’ highest earners. The Tigers would need to at least match that.
He spent four years at Elland Road after joining from Barcelona in 2021. The first two seasons ended in failure and relegation, yet he stayed and produced 22 goal contributions in 62 Championship matches, four goals and 18 assists. While parading the Championship trophy, he urged Paraag Marathe to offer a new deal before eventually rejoining Betis.
Leeds begin their Premier League season on Saturday at Nottingham Forest, then face Forest again in the Carabao Cup second round. Leeds visit Hull on December 30, and if Firpo signs, his Elland Road return would not come until March 2027.
