Hull City are racing to sell players to meet PSR before 30 June, with the threat of disciplinary action that could include a points deduction before the Premier League starts.

According to Sunderland Echo, the newly promoted club are seeking around £6 million from sales this month to avoid a potential breach.

The Tigers returned to the top flight by beating Middlesbrough in last month’s Championship play-off final at Wembley, their first Premier League campaign since 2016-17. Preparations are already being shaped by PSR concerns.

Clubs are currently permitted to lose up to £39 million across three years. The Championship will move to a squad cost ratio capped at 85 percent of revenue, but Hull must satisfy existing PSR before month end.

Failure to comply could trigger sanctions and, potentially, a deduction before kick-off. Hull served a two-window transfer fee embargo last summer over late payments linked to loan signings.

Owner Acun Ilicali has acknowledged overspending and said players must be sold before the start of July, while insisting the situation is manageable, helped by higher valuations and exits for those not in his plans.

Key assets are not expected to be sacrificed at this stage, with attention on fringe options. Mason Burstow, Kasey Palmer, Abu Kamara, Enis Destan, Abdus Omur, Thimothee Lo-Tutala and David Akintola are among those who could attract interest.

Sunderland and other newly promoted or lower-half sides will watch closely, since any early-season penalty could reshape the survival picture.
