“I am told” – Journalist provides interesting update on Real Madrid interest in Chelsea duo | OneFootball

Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on Chelsea midfield duo Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo according to reports.

Fernandez and Caicedo are the two most expensive signings in the club’s history with both players costing more than £100m.

Caicedo has been outstanding since arriving from Brighton, whilst Fernandez now appears to have hit top form after an impressive campaign last season.

Real Madrid keeping a close eye on Fernandez and Caicedo

Midfield is probably Chelsea’s strongest area of the squad, and Fernandez and Caicedo, along with Cole Palmer is arguably one of the best midfield’s in the league.

However, as with all top players they do tend to attract interest from other clubs, and journalist Graeme Bailey has reported Real Madrid are keeping an eye on the midfield duo.

“Real are doing their due diligence on potential midfield options, they are constantly doing work on potential targets,” he told TBR Football.

“Under Juni Calafat they have transformed their recruitment and their ability to make the right moves, and the midfield department is something they are looking at.

“They are not worried but are concerned about their depth, and I am told that Fernandez and Caicedo are two players they love and are watching them regularly.”

Fernandez has previously been linked with Real Madrid, whilst the only team Caicedo has been linked with was Saudi side Al-Nassr.

Chelsea need to keep hold of midfield duo

Like all clubs, the Blues will want to keep hold of their best players, and Fernandez and Caicedo without doubt fall into that category.

Caicedo has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the league, whilst the Argentina international has really stepped up and contributed with a number of important goals last season.

Chelsea also have Romeo Lavia, Andrey Santos and Dario Essugo at their disposal, giving them real depth in midfield, but they need to keep hold of their star duo for as long as possible.
