Versailles manager Jordan Gonzalez (35) has spoken publicly for the first and, he says, final time following the now-closed investigation into an alleged fixed match between his side and Bourg-en-Bresse on April 25th.
The FFF’s federal disciplinary commission dismissed the case last Thursday, bringing an end to a turbulent two months for the National outfit (third tier). Suspicion had emerged just before the final round of the Championnat National season, when a message circulated on the “Foot clubs” platform suggested that Versailles’ 3-0 win over Bourg-en-Bresse may have been pre-arranged. Three Bourg-en-Bresse players were reportedly named, as was Gonzalez himself – formerly in charge of the club from the Ain region . No sanctions were imposed.
In a statement posted to social media on Sunday, Gonzalez expressed a mixture of “disappointment, hurt and injustice” at being accused. “Being publicly implicated on the basis of false allegations has been extremely painful – for me, for my loved ones, for my family. I never had the slightest doubt over how this case would end, because I knew I was innocent.”“To cast doubt on our display that night is to discredit months of hard work, effort and discipline. To insinuate that we’re not capable of winning a match 3-0 honestly is an insult to a fully committed group.”Gonzalez, who joined Versailles last summer, guided the club to a 7th-place finish in National in 2024–25.GFFN | George Boxall
