‘I performed at the level Barcelona demands’ — Gerard Martin satisfied with his performance in new role | OneFootball

FC Barcelona end their 2025-26 season with a defeat, at the hands of Valencia at Mestalla. The Catalan side conceded thrice in this last game, and suffered a 3-1 loss, but overall, this was another memorable campaign for them.

The defender Gerard Martin was one of the players, along with Frenkie de Jong, who talked to the media after this match. As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the youngster commented on the last season, and also talked about his adaptation to the center-back position.

The Spaniard was quite satisfied with his performances in this new position:

“I think I’ve had a very good season. I started as a full-back, then moved to centre-back, where I hadn’t played before, but I’ve felt very comfortable there. I think I performed at the level Barcelona demands.”

The defender also highlighted some highs and lows for his team this season:

It was quite a good season for Gerard Martin himself, especially the latter parts, as he became a regular starter for Hansi Flick. Hopefully, he would go on to only grow in the next season, and help Barcelona achieve their objectives for the season.
