The Blues were very quiet in January, but that’s not expected to be the case in the summer with a number of positions needing to be addressed in the squad.

Chelsea are still said to be in the market for a centre back, whilst it’s thought they also want to add another midfielder and attacker.

Marcel Desailly tells Chelsea to make move for Darwin Nunez

The Blues signed two strikers last summer in Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, who’ve had very contrasting fortunes this season.

Pedro has had a great campaign and has scored 19 goals in all competitions, with 14 of those coming in the league, whilst Delap has managed just two goals all season.

Delap has already been linked with an exit, whilst Chelsea have another striker in Emmanuel Emegha arriving from Strasbourg in the summer.

However, the Blues have also been linked with Al-Hilal’s Nunez, and Desailly has urged his former club to bring the Uruguayan back to the Premier League.

“I’m pleased to see him wanting to come back to European football, it shows money isn’t everything,” he told Footitalia as quoted by Metro.

“A club like Chelsea, or the new Manchester United, would be best for him. He needs to be surrounded by established, confident players who know they’re going to play every weekend and who will give him the ball on the first intention.

“I would actually recommend Nunez for Chelsea. He’s a very good player, a smart player, he just needs the right environment to perform.”

Nunez has scored nine goals and registered five assists in 24 appearances in all competitions, but was removed from Al-Hilal’s Saudi Pro League squad in January to make room for Karim Benzema.

However, Chelsea haven’t beaten City since the 2021 Champions League final, a run stretching 12 games and it would be a shock if they ended that run at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
