Marc Cucurella has revealed that he would love former Chelsea teammate Enzo Fernandez to join him at Real Madrid this summer.

The left-back recently ended his four-year stay at Chelsea following a £52 million move to Madrid.

Cucurella’s exit came after speculation surrounding his future at Stamford Bridge, with the club preparing for a new era under incoming manager Xabi Alonso.

Now back in Spain, Cucurella is hoping Fernandez could follow him to the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Argentine midfielder has been strongly linked with a move to Madrid, although Chelsea value him at around £120 million.

Cucurella claims he has already spoken to Fernandez since completing his move and would be delighted to reunite with him.

“He’s a great player and a friend of mine,” Cucurella said (via the Standard). “He congratulated me on the signing. I hope it happens.

“I would be very happy. We were very happy at Chelsea, and to have the opportunity to both sign for Real Madrid in the same summer. I hope he’s lucky and becomes a Real Madrid player.”

The pair shared the dressing room at Chelsea and developed a strong relationship during a tumultuous period in London.

Cucurella believes Fernandez has the quality and mentality to succeed at one of the biggest clubs in the world and would relish the chance to share a dressing room once again.

New manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly signed off on the transfer, and Madrid have shown a willingness to meet Chelsea’s demands.

Fernandez has previously flirted with the idea of moving to Madrid after publicly admitting that he would love to live in the Spanish capital in the future.

Madrid are expected to formalise their interest in the World Cup winner in the coming days.
