FC Barcelona took another big step towards retaining the La Liga title as they beat Getafe 2-0 in the last league game on Saturday night. Before that, Real Madrid had drawn their match with Real Betis, which means the Blaugranes are now 11 points clear at the top of the table, with only 15 points left to play for.

Hansi Flick was naturally quite happy with this win, which came without several important Barcelona players, including the likes of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the German coach talked to the press after this game, and ensured that his team was not yet celebrating the title win just yet:

“We won, and that’s what we wanted: to play our match and play football. We celebrated the victory in the dressing room, but not the title. We were only focused on doing the job today. I’m very happy with how we played here, both with and without the ball. We did it very well because it’s not easy to do. We’ll celebrate what we deserve at the end of the season, but not today.”

The Barcelona coach was well pleased with his team’s overall performance:

“In all those long balls, we handled them well, and the team was very focused and performed very well.”

For now, Flick was only thinking about the upcoming game against Osasuna:

“We are not thinking about the future. We have to keep preparing for the next match against Osasuna, which will not be easy.”

The German coach praised two forwards who are not regular starters for him:

“We played very well in the first half, and Roony was part of that, and in the second half, with space, Rashford used it well. It was important for him to score.”

Pedri was applauded by Getafe fans in this game, and the Blaugrana trainer was quite happy with this recognition for his star player:

“He showed mentality and quality, and when rival fans applaud you, that also shows respect. I’m very happy for him.”

Overall, Flick was happy with the state of the dressing room and the team’s performances in recent weeks:

“We have the quality and confidence needed to play against this team. From the very first moment, we showed that on the pitch. In recent days, I’ve seen a very good atmosphere, good feelings, and energy. I’m very happy for the club and the supporters.”

With this win, the league title is practically secured for Barcelona, but it is wise for Hansi Flick not to celebrate it just yet, as his team still has to mathematically get over the line.
