Inês Fernandes has ended her elite futsal career after 18 seasons with Benfica. Glorioso 1904 reports that the club bade farewell as the former captain confirmed her retirement at the close of the 2025/26 campaign.
Fernandes leaves a defining legacy in Benfica’s women’s futsal, having collected more than 40 trophies. She joined in 2008 and became a standard-bearer for the team across almost two decades.
Her honours include eight National Championships, seven won consecutively, plus 10 Portuguese Cups, nine Super Cups, three League Cups and one National Cup.
One of her standout moments came in 2023 with victory in the Futsal Women's European Champions. Although not organised by UEFA, it was the first time a Portuguese club had lifted the trophy.
In an official tribute, her impact was praised, portraying her as a club symbol and a reference in Portuguese women’s sport who embodied Benfica’s values. The message added that she finished in the best way, winning the National Championship on home court, and wished her well for the future. The club publicly thanked Inês.
