The schedule for Inter’s summer preseason is officially beginning to take shape: the Nerazzurri will travel to Australia for the first time where they will play two high-profile friendlies as part of a tournament celebrating Italian clubs.

Inter will take the field in Perth, the capital and main city of the state of Western Australia, where they will face AC Milan and Juventus at the Optus Stadium, the city’s main sports venue.

THE SCHEDULE

  1. AC Milan v Inter - Wednesday, August 5
  2. Juventus v Inter – Saturday, August 8

THE OVERSEAS DERBY

For the fourth time, the city derby will be played as a friendly outside Italy: Inter and AC Milan have faced each other in the United States twice, in New York in 1969 (6-4 to the Rossoneri) and in Foxborough in the summer of 2009 (2-0 to the Nerazzurri, with a brace from Milito). The last time the derby was played outside Italy in a friendly was in 2015, when the two teams met in Shenzhen, China (a 1-0 win for AC Milan).

INTER V JUVENTUS ABROAD

This won’t be the first time the Derby d’Italia has been played as a friendly outside Italy. Inter and Juventus have faced each other abroad on two previous occasions. The first was in August 2013 in Miami, United States, which ended 1-1 with goals from Alvarez and Vidal. The most recent was in Nanjing, China, in the summer of 2019, when Juventus won on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regular time.
