Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta has ruled out the possibility of pursuing Real Madrid megastar Kylian Mbappe.
Speaking to Sky Sport via FCInterNews, Marotta also delivered his verdict on the club’s purchase of San Siro.
Last night, the Milan City Council approved the sale of the stadium and the surrounding areas to AC Milan and Inter.
Therefore, the Serie A giants can now embark on their ambitious project.
Indeed, they will demolish the old stadium and design a brand-new, state-of-the-art arena.
However, construction will not begin before 2027, with the opening expected to take place in 2031.
Building a new stadium has been Oaktree’s long-term wish.
The American fund sees it as the key to boosting Inter’s revenues, global profile, and long-term stability.
Despite receiving a long-awaited approval, the project will face major challenges, including large-scale construction.
As such, Marotta expects a ‘tough journey.’

Inter set a new revenue record in Serie A, recording a profit for the first time in 15 years.
“We closed the first positive balance sheet in Inter’s history, with record revenues for an Italian club,” Marotta said. “These revenues must become structural to ensure consistent profitability.
“The main goal of a club is to achieve financial and economic sustainability while also delivering quality sporting results.
“We’ve managed it so far, with extraordinary revenues. That’s our model and our target this season too.”
Then, he admitted that Inter’s financial stability doesn’t mean they will splash out insane figures on players like Mbappe.
“A deal like that would be madness for an Italian club. In Italy, we can’t afford such operations. In the past, world-class stars came here early in their careers.
“Now, we see someone like Modric, but only at the end of his.
“Serie A is in transition. We can’t make massive signings, but we must focus on enhancing our product.
“Investing in young players pays off and can guarantee the same results.”

Finally, Marotta explained his complicated feelings about the San Siro decision.
“It was a very troubled decision, but we’re happy and satisfied,” he stated. “I say this as Inter’s president, a football lover, and a citizen of Milan.
“Now begins a difficult, demanding journey. We have Dr. Ralph, who’s very well prepared, and Milan have Scaroni.
“They will certainly lead this project to satisfaction. Having a stadium in Milan for Inter and Milan was a top priority.
“I want to reassure everyone because Inter and Milan act transparently and in the public interest.
“The stadium will be a heritage not only for the clubs but also for the city.
“It will bring jobs and tourism. Our goal is to work for the good of Milan’s community.”
