Inter Milan take control of Serie A race after 2-1 win over Genoa | OneFootball

Inter Milan moved to the top of the Serie A table after edging Genoa 2-1 away from home on Sunday taking full advantage of dropped points by title rivals AC Milan & Napoli in matchday 15.

The Nerazzurri made fast start at the Luigi Ferraris, with Yann Bisseck opening the scoring in the sixth minute. Lautaro Martinez doubled Inter’s lead just before half-time finding the net in the 38 minute to put Simone Inzaghi’s side firmly in control.

Genoa responded after the break as Vitinha pulled one back in the 68 minute but Inter held their nerve to secure crucial three points.

Rivals Falter as Inter take control

Inter’s victory proved even more significant following setbacks for their closest challengers. AC Milan were held to 2-2 draw by Sassuolo while Napoli suffered shock 1-0 defeat against Udinese allowing Inter to leapfrog both sides in the standings.

As result, Inter now sit top of the Serie A table with 33 point holding one-point advantage over second-placed Milan and two point cushion over Napoli in third.

Genoa, meanwhile remain under pressure near the bottom of the table sitting 16th with 14 point after the defeat.
