The Polish midfielder featured prominently in a demanding contest at the Stadio Ferraris, where Inter were required to manage long spells of pressure after taking control of the match.

Speaking to Sky Sport after the final whistle, Zielinski stressed the importance of mentality in seeing out the result.

He explained that Inter were forced to dig deep, especially after conceding, but showed maturity in protecting their advantage.

“We brought it home with character,” Zielinski said.

“On the goal we conceded we paid for a lapse in concentration, but then we did well not to take any more risks and we held onto a victory that was fundamental for us.”

The win also saw Inter move back to the top of the table ahead of the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana, a detail not lost on the experienced midfielder.

However, Zielinski was quick to strike a balanced tone when asked about the significance of leading the standings at this stage of the season.

“Being first is always nice,” he admitted, “but we know the league is long. We have to keep consistency and try to win as many matches as possible.”

He added that confidence within the squad remains high, even with the challenges that lie ahead. “We have all the tools to stay at the top until the end of the season. I’m confident, but I also know there will still be many matches where we suffer.”

Zielinski also shared his thoughts with Inter TV, once again underlining the weight of the three points in Genoa. “It was fundamental,” he said.

“We knew how important it was to get three points tonight. We suffered, but in the end what mattered was bringing home the win.”

The former Napoli midfielder placed particular emphasis on Inter’s reaction to their midweek defeat.

“For us it was important to win straight away after the loss to Liverpool. We wanted to bounce back, and that’s what we did, so we’re happy.”

On a personal note, Zielinski expressed satisfaction with his current condition and continuity.

“Now I’m happy because I’m playing regularly, without physical problems,” he concluded. “I feel good, and we have to keep going like this.”
