International Magpies: Thiaw and Woltemade named in Germany World Cup squad

The United duo have been included in Julian Nagelsmann's Germany squad for this summer's FIFA World Cup finals, marking the pair's first selections for a major tournament.

They will first hope to feature in two warm-up games against Finland on Saturday 31st May at the Mewa Arena in Mainz (kick-off 7.45pm BST) and the USA at Soldier Field in Chicago on Saturday 6th June (kick-off 7.30pm BST).

Drawn in Group E, Die Mannschaft will then open their tournament with a game against World Cup debutants Curaçao at the NRG Stadium in Houston on Sunday 14th June (kick-off 6pm BST) before travelling to Toronto to face the Ivory Coast at BMO Field on Saturday 20th June.

They round off the group stage with a clash with Ecuador at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Thursday 25th June. Both of their final two group games kick off at 9pm BST.

The expanded 48-team World Cup, held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, starts on Thursday 11 June.

Bruno Guimarães

The Magpies captain has been named in Brazil's 26-man squad ahead of the tournament, with Carlo Ancelotti's side facing two friendlies before competing in the competition for a record-extending 23rd time.

Seleção host Panama at the Maracanã on Sunday 31 June (kick-off 10:30pm BST) before taking on Egypt at the FirstEnergy Stadium in Pennsylvania on Saturday 6 June (kick-off 12am BST).

The five-time champions begin their World Cup campaign against Morocco at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday 13 June (kick-off 11pm BST) before facing Haiti at the Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday 20 June (kick-off 1:30pm BST).

Brazil, who last won the trophy in 2002, conclude their Group C campaign when facing Scotland four days later at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami (kick-off 11pm BST).

Yoane Wissa

Wissa will be heading to the World Cup for the first time after being selected for DR Congo's 26-man squad.

Before their first appearance at a World Cup finals since 1974, the Leopards will face friendlies against Denmark, on Wednesday 3 June at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne in Liège, Belgium (kick-off 7pm BST), and Chile six days later at the Municipal de La Linea in Spain (kick-off 3pm BST).

DR Congo kick off their Group K campaign against Portugal on Wednesday 17 June at the NRG Stadium in Houston (kick-off 6pm BST) before taking on Colombia at the Estadio Akron on Wednesday 24 June (kick-off 3am BST).

The African outfit go head-to-head with Uzbekistan in their final group game on Sunday 28 June at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (kick-off 12:30am BST).

Rory Finneran

Finneran received a first senior international call-up for Republic of Ireland ahead of their international friendly against Grenada this month.

The 18-year-old midfielder, who has featured for Newcastle's under-21s side this season, travelled to Murcia, Spain to link up with Heimir Hallgrímsson's squad and made his senior bow during the Boys in Green's 5-0 victory against Grenada on Saturday, appearing from the bench in the closing stages.

Finneran, who captained his country at last year's FIFA U17 World Cup finals in Qatar, became the seventh-youngest player of the post-war era to play for Republic of Ireland at senior level.

Alex Murphy

The Galway-born defender has been handed his first senior international call-up with Republic of Ireland ahead of their upcoming fixtures against Qatar and Canada.

The Boys in Green host Qatar at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Thursday 28 May (kick-off 7:45pm BST) before facing Canada at the Saputo Stadium in Montreal on Saturday 6 June (kick-off 12:30am BST).

Murphy, who made his first competitive start for the Magpies in February's Champions League victory against Qarabağ FK at St. James' Park, has accrued 12 appearances for his country at U21 level.

Anthony Elanga

Elanga has been named in Sweden's 26-man squad for this summer's World Cup finals, with Graham Potter's side facing two friendlies in preparation for the star-studded competition.

Sweden will face Norway on Monday 1 June at the Ullevaal Stadium in Oslo before hosting Greece at the Friends Arena three days later.

Both games will take place at 6pm BST.

Sweden progressed through the play-offs, beating the likes of Ukraine and Poland, to book their place in Group F.

Blågult will face Tunisia in their opening group fixture on Sunday 14 June at Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, Mexico (kick-off 3am BST) before taking on the Netherlands six days later at the NRG Stadium in Houston (kick-off 6pm BST).

Sweden, World Cup finalists in 1958, will face Japan in their final group game on Friday 26 June at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington (kick-off 12am BST).
