Ipswich Town are yet to register a win in the Championship this season, drawing two and losing one of their opening three league games.

Ipswich Town have been slow out of the blocks so far in the 2025-26 season, having not tasted victory in any of their opening three league games.

Kieran McKenna's side snatched a late draw on the opening day away to Birmingham City courtesy of a George Hirst penalty, and have since drawn at home to relegation rivals Southampton and lost away to Preston North End.

On top of that, the Tractor Boys have already been dumped out of the EFL Cup by the hands of League Two Bromley, following a penalty shootout.

It has certainly not been the start to the new campaign that McKenna and Ipswich would have been hoping for, and with less than a week to go in the transfer window, there is still time to bring in the quality required to shoot them up the table.

Omari Hutchinson, Liam Delap and Nathan Broadhead have all departed the club for lucrative fees, whilst club stalwarts Sam Morsy, Cameron Burgess, Marcus Harness and Massimo Luongo have all left the club for free.

In terms of incomings, winger Kasey McAteer has joined from Leicester City for £12 million, tough-tackling midfielder Azor Matusiwa has joined from Stade Rennais, whilst Chuba Akpom has arrived on loan from Ajax, as does Jens Cajuste from Napoli.

Football League World has taken a look at the latest transfer news surrounding Ipswich with less than a week to go, as McKenna makes the final additions and trimmings to his side for this season.

Ipswich Town transfer target Sindre Walle Egeli speaks out on Tractor Boys interest

It had been reported by Danish publication Tipsbladet earlier this window that Ipswich had submitted an offer of €20m (roughly £17.2m) for FC Nordsjaelland forward Sindre Walle Egeli, with the two clubs said to have been in 'positive negotiations' over a deal.

The 19-year-old had also been a target for Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven earlier this window, and Ipswich had been looking to secure the ambitious signing of the Norwegian ahead of the Dutch outfit following Omari Hutchinson's exit to Nottingham Forest.

However, noise over a deal has since gone quiet, and it remains up in the air over whether a deal will be done for Walle Egeli, who has scored twice and grabbed a further two assists in six league matches so far this season.

The Scandinavian teenager was quizzed over Ipswich's reported interest following Nordsjaelland's 1-0 win over Viborg on Monday night - where he scored the only goal in the fourth minute - and he confirmed that Ipswich are interested and that he's ready to make the next step in his career to England, yet he doesn't know what the future holds with less than a week to go in the transfer window

"Yes, I know that an offer has been made, so it's up to the clubs to see if they can agree," Walle Egeli told Bold.

"It's definitely exciting that the club has made a bid. But I'm not thinking about it that much. I'm thinking about FC Nordsjælland and my performance here."

Ipswich Town interest in Jordan James emerges but Wrexham have submitted bid

Ipswich have added Azor Matusiwa and Jens Cajuste to their current midfield options this summer, which include Jack Taylor, but with Cameron Humphreys still unproven at Championship level, it looks as though the Suffolk side are looking to add another engine room operator to their ranks.

As per Alan Nixon of The Sun, Ipswich are keen on Matusiwa's former team-mate Jordan James of Stade Rennais, who has plenty of experience at Championship level with Birmingham City, despite only being 21 years of age.

The 20-cap Wales international is the subject of an offer from big-spending Wrexham though, as per Nixon, and they're willing to beat off all comers for James' services - which include the Tractor Boys as well as Serie A outfit Parma.

With parachute payments at their disposal, Ipswich probably have the funds to get a deal done, but it does not appear that they are as keen as the club from North Wales at this moment in time.

Ipswich Town submit bid for Club America defender Sebastian Caceres

It was reported by Fabrizio Romano via X last Friday that Ipswich had made a bid for Uruguayan centre-back Sebastian Caceres of Mexican side Club America.

Caceres, 26, has spent the last five-and-a-half years playing for the Central American outfit, and has since drawn attention from the Championship club, who are looking to bolster their current defensive options.

With Cameron Burgess having already left the club and Luke Woolfenden being linked with a move away, this would leave Jacob Greaves, Dara O'Shea, Cedric Kipre and Elkan Baggott as the club's only options at centre-back - the latter of whom has only made seven appearances for the club.

Club America president Santiago Banos has confirmed that an offer has been turned down for Caceres' services though, so Ipswich will have to do a bit more if they are going to secure the services of the South American defender.
