Wrexham are showing interest in Rennes midfielder Jordan James (21), according to a report from L’Équipe.
The Welsh international, who already has 20 caps for his country, could be set for a swift return to the UK just one year after his move to Ligue 1. James joined Rennes from Birmingham City last summer but has struggled to make a major impact in Brittany, and the club are now open to parting ways.
According to L’Équipe, newly-promoted Championship side Wrexham are negotiating with Rennes over a deal worth around €5m. The Welsh club are owned by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are looking to strengthen their midfield options as they prepare for their first season back in the second tier since 2004.
James is also attracting interest from abroad, with Serie A side Parma pursuing a loan with an option to buy, while another unnamed Championship club is also in discussions.
The midfielder remains under contract with Rennes until 2028, but a move this summer appears increasingly likely.GFFN | George Boxall
