Is Ewa Pajor the best striker in women’s football?

In terms of goalscoring, there is a strong argument to suggest that Ewa Pajor is the most lethal striker in women’s football.

She enjoyed a stunning first season at Barcelona, which led to her receiving the Gerd Muller Trophy at the Ballon d’Or awards for most goals in a calendar year for club and country.

Despite this, it was Alessia Russo who finished as the highest-ranked striker in the Women’s Ballon d’Or awards. There were some arguments that she was robbed of the award, which ended up going to Aitana Bonmati for the third consecutive year.

Pajor was the next best-ranked striker in eighth despite her stunning scoring record.

Her case wasn’t helped with an underwhelming display in the Women’s Champions League final defeat to Arsenal last season.

However, should Barcelona taste success in the Liga F and Champions League this season, she will likely be towards the top of the rankings going off her current scoring rate.
