Isaac Schmidt is nearing a permanent exit from Leeds United, with a switch to Young Boys progressing, according to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk.

The 26-year-old arrived from FC St Gallen two years ago as a full-back but did not convince Daniel Farke. He played 71 Championship minutes across 12 cameos, mostly late and further forward, plus two FA Cup starts.

He spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen, making 19 Bundesliga appearances, with six starts. He covered both full-back roles and both flanks higher up, but the stay was not made permanent.

Basel and Young Boys led Swiss interest. Schmidt is due to leave permanently, following Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow after their end-of-contract moves to Arsenal and Manchester United.

Lucas Perri is not currently cleared to depart. The Brazilian has reported for pre-season testing at Leeds Beckett and will train at Thorp Arch. With no other senior keeper who played top-flight football last season, a loan is off the table despite links to Torino.

He lost his place last season after two high-profile errors criticised by Farke.

Leeds are waiting on Southampton's Shea Charles and hold interest in Sassuolo centre-back Tarik Muharemović. The Bosnian is viewed as an ideal replacement for Pascal Struijk after his move to Brighton, and it could take a club-record fee to sign the former Juventus defender.
