Forward Bukayo Saka was on the scoresheet when England beat rivals Wales 3-0 in an international friendly at Wembley Stadium on Thursday.
The Arsenal star scored in the 20th minute, receiving a pass from Ezri Konsa before curling the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
Saka has now netted 13 goals for the Three Lions, the most by any Arsenal player.
Speaking about the forward’s record-breaking feat, manager Thomas Tuchel believes the 24-year-old should have scored more for England at this stage.
Tuchel said: “It has to be more – it’s not enough, so he needs to keep on going. I thought it was 30 at least, and I would have said, ‘it’s still not enough,’ because I am never satisfied.
“He is such a threat for Arsenal in the most challenging league in the world, so why would he not be at the international level?
“We have the position for him – he has the attitude, stamina, the talent. He has everything to be a top player at the international level, and that is what he has to show.
“We can just encourage him to be influential, and that is what he was today. He needs to try to repeat it.”
Saka has made 45 appearances for England, an average of 0.29 goals per game.
That figure places him behind some of Europe’s best forwards, such as Kylian Mbappe. He averages 0.57 goals for France, having scored 52 in 92 games.
Saka’s record is better than some attackers, such as Vinicius Junior (0.17 for Brazil) and Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembele (0.12 for France).
