‘It’s Not My Position’ – Exit From Rangers Lands Star In Unfamiliar Role | OneFootball

Former Rangers winger Oliver Antman has admitted he is being played out of position at Belgian side Anderlecht.

Antman arrived at Ibrox from Dutch outfit Go Ahead Eagles last summer and made 28 appearances in all competitions, contributing to three goals.

The 25-year-old struggled to really get a consistent run at Rangers, amid the Gers’ struggles and managerial change, but the club decided to part ways with him in the recent window.

Antman was sold on a permanent deal to Anderlecht.

The Finland international shed light on the intense training sessions, life in a new country, a different environment, and a new style of football that he has now found in Belgium.

Antman though insists that he is being played out of position at the moment, with an unfamiliar role in the Anderlecht side.

Despite that, the Finland international is prepared to try all he can to adapt and do the job to the best of his ability.

Antman was quoted as saying by Voetbal Krant: “It has been very intense, many matches, many training sessions, a new environment, a new country, and a different kind of football.

“It always takes some time to get used to that. I do enjoy the group and the football we are trying to play. It suits me.

“I still need to improve myself a lot. I’ve only been here for a month.

“Everything is very intense, including the way the coach wants to play and the daily environment. But it will come.”

Antman was asked to drop deep to help defend by the Anderlecht coach.

“If the coach puts me there, I’ll play there.

“It’s not my position, but that’s football.

“You have to adapt to what the team needs.”

Rangers strengthened their attack in the transfer window, adding Japanese winger Daisuke Yokota, who boss Derek McInnes has praised.

The Gers also signed Badredine Bouanani on loan from German outfit Stuttgart and former Rangers star Ryan Jack believes he has ‘great pedigree’.

The Glasgow outfit have not had a strong start to the season under manager McInnes, but are currently undefeated in their last three matches in the Scottish Premiership.

Rangers will want to build on the momentum, as they lock horns with St. Mirren next, before facing arch rivals Celtic
