New Albion boss James Morrison says initial talks have taken place with a couple of out-of-contract players, with decisions to follow soon.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, he was appointed on a permanent basis on Thursday and will oversee Saturday lunchtime’s Championship finale at Sheffield Wednesday.
Morrison said he has spoken to a couple of players but stressed the club will work through a process together to see where things end up.
Contracts are up this summer for attackers Jed Wallace, Karlan Grant, Daryl Dike and Josh Maja, as well as goalkeepers Max O’Leary and Joe Wildsmith.
Club captain Wallace has returned to training and is in contention to feature at Sheffield Wednesday, which may be a farewell appearance for him and some team-mates.
The likelihood is that the majority of those out of contract, many of whom have served the club for several years, will move on when their deals expire.
Recruitment will be led by director of football operations Ian Pearce, within a collective that includes new technical director Dominic Price, appointed in March, and head coach Morrison. Albion executive director Mark Miles confirmed that structure at Friday’s press conference at the Baggies’ Walsall training base.
