Jamie Vardy ended his illustrious Leicester City career after 13 years in 2025
Leicester City suffered relegation to League One just 12 months after coming 18th in the Premier League table.
The Foxes endured a difficult campaign in which they were also handed a six point deduction penalty for breaching the financial rules.
Martí Cifuentes was appointed as head coach following the club’s relegation from the Premier League, but he was dismissed midway through the term.
It was also Leicester’s first year without talismanic figure Jamie Vardy to lead the line since his arrival in 2012.
The striker departed last summer at the end of his contract, ending a 13-year stint at the King Power in which he cemented his legacy as one of the team’s best ever players.
The 39-year-old made the switch to Italian side Cremonese, as he nears the end of his playing career.

Vardy has opened up on whether or not a step into management is in his future, claiming that it’s not something that he’s even considered at this stage of his career.
The forward still has his focus on continuing his playing career, with Cremonese at risk of suffering relegation to Serie B this season.
"Management? No,” said Vardy, via the BBC.
“I've not really thought about it.
"I've not looked that far down the line."
Vardy joined Cremonese at the end of the summer transfer window as a free agent, agreeing to a one-year deal with the option to extend his contract by a further 12 months.
No decision has yet been made regarding that option, with three games remaining in the Serie A campaign.
The Italian side are sitting in the relegation zone, with four points now separating them from 17th place Lecce, with only nine available left to play for.
Vardy has contributed five goals and two assists from 26 appearances in the top flight this season, which is down on his tally from his final year with the Foxes.
The striker scored nine times in the Premier League, but it was not enough to keep the club in the division beyond one campaign.
Vardy’s final goal for Leicester came in his final appearance for the club, scoring in a 2-0 victory against Ipswich Town on 18 May.
The 39-year-old has yet to determine his future for next season, although a return to the King Power Stadium is not currently on the cards.
It remains to be seen who will be manager of the Leicestershire outfit next season, as they prepare for life in League One.
It’s been a disappointing season for Vardy at Cremonese in the sense that relegation now looms over the club.
However, his performance levels have shown that he can still contribute at a top flight level, even if he isn’t the player that he once was.
He has no immediate reason to consider a switch to management, as he can still compete even at the age of 39.
Whether he remains at Cremonese is unclear at this stage, but there will surely be a number of clubs eyeing his signature in the summer if he becomes available, which could even lead to a return to English football.
