Brazil face Japan in the World Cup round of 32, with Japan potentially boosted by the return of Takefusa Kubo.
According to Coluna Do Fla, Kubo resumed ball work on Friday 26 after a left knee injury in the opener against the Netherlands, which kept him out against Tunisia and Sweden.
The 25-year-old Real Sociedad midfielder is among Japan’s key names for the tournament. After fitness issues in 2025/26, he made 27 appearances, scoring two goals and providing four assists, having previously played for Real Madrid, Villarreal and Mallorca.
Brazil topped Group C with two wins and one draw, making seven points. Morocco finished second, also on seven, due to an inferior goal difference. Scotland ended with three, Haiti with zero.
Brazil remain without Raphinha for the meeting with Japan. The number 11 will not travel to Houston, Texas, and will stay in New Jersey for intensive treatment on a right hamstring injury.
Kick-off is at 14:00 Brasília time on Monday 29 at NGR Stadium in Houston.
