Japan release Sato to link up with Aguirre at Valencia | OneFootball

Ryunouske Sato is heading back to Spain after the Japan Football Federation announced, following the Venezuela friendly, that the Valencia winger has left the camp. The decision is not injury related.

It was made by head coach Hajime Moriyasu in agreement with the Mestalla club for the good of the player, and is intended to let him link up as soon as possible with Javier Aguirre, a familiar figure to Japan.

Japan regard Sato as a rough diamond and are managing his development. The second youngest to debut for the national team had been due to stay at least another week with Moriyasu’s squad. Japan play Ecuador on Thursday, but he will not feature, despite starting against Venezuela today.

With a change in the dugout at Valencia, the federation, after talks with the player and then with his club, has prioritised his development at Mestalla and excused him from training and the Ecuador fixture.

At club level, Sato started three of Valencia’s five league games under Carlos Corberán, but did not play a minute in the two matches overseen by Óscar Sánchez.
