West Ham produced one of their finest performances of the campaign on Sunday afternoon, defeating Leeds United 3-0 at London Stadium, yet relegation came anyway. Taty Castellanos, Jarrod Bowen, and Callum Wilson all scored, but Tottenham Hotspur also won to maintain their two-point advantage and send the Hammers down to the Championship. The result felt both joyful and hollow in East London.
Leeds arrived having secured their own safety, and West Ham struggled in the opening exchanges, making errors in the final pass while Leeds looked more composed in building play, though short of a cutting edge. The turning point arrived in the 67th minute.
Mads Hermansen – 7/10: The Danish goalkeeper, valued at around £20m, faced just three shots on target and dealt with each calmly, commanding his box with confidence throughout.
Kyle Walker-Peters – 6/10: Solid on the right without ever truly threatening going forward. Kept his position diligently and won his individual battles against Nmecha.
Axel Disasi – 7/10: The Frenchman read danger well and carried the ball out from the back with purpose in the second half, contributing to West Ham’s improved build-up play.
Konstantinos Mavropanos – 6/10: Competitive in the air and largely reliable, though he looked nervy in the first half when Leeds pressed through central channels.
Malick Diouf – 6/10: The Senegalese left-back delivered energy down the flank but lacked the final product in key moments.
Tomas Soucek – 7/10: The Czech midfielder brought physicality and determination, winning the ball back repeatedly and keeping West Ham ticking across both halves.
Mateus Fernandes – 8/10: The standout performer for West Ham in the league this season continued his fine form, pulling the strings with composure and driving forward with authority.
Jarrod Bowen – 8/10: Bowen delivered the corner that led to Castellanos’ opener before finishing clinically in the 79th minute. His £60m valuation looked entirely justified.

Pablo Felipe – 7/10: The Brazilian created openings with clever movement and worked tirelessly, showing enough quality to suggest he belongs at this level.
Crysencio Summerville – 7/10: Lively and direct, the winger caused consistent problems down the left and linked play effectively before being withdrawn late on.
Taty Castellanos – 7/10: The Argentine headed home from Bowen’s corner at the back post to open the scoring in the 67th minute, providing the breakthrough West Ham desperately needed.
Mohamadou Kante (46′) – 6/10, brought energy off the bench.
Callum Wilson (90′) – added the third with composure to seal the scoreline for West Ham.
Despite the result, West Ham face an immediate rebuilding mission as they prepare for life outside the Premier League.
