Jermain Defoe appointed Woking manager with Paul Bracewell as assistant | OneFootball

According to PA, Jermain Defoe has been appointed Woking manager, with Paul Bracewell named assistant.

Interim bosses Craig Ross and Jake Hyde remain on the staff alongside Dale Gorman, and Ross and Hyde will lead Tuesday’s home match against Altrincham.

Defoe had recently been linked with a possible return to Tottenham, and he described Woking as a historic club with big potential, adding that he is eager to get started.

The former England striker has coached in Tottenham’s academy and was part of a four-man caretaker set-up at Rangers in 2021.

Chairman Todd Johnson highlighted Defoe’s standards, leadership and emphasis on player development. The club have a clear plan and see him as the right fit to build on strong foundations and take the next step.

As a player he featured for West Ham, Portsmouth and Sunderland, and scored 20 goals in 57 senior England appearances.
