Cristiano Ronaldo’s clash with Portugal boss Jorge Jesus was preceded by an earlier flashpoint at Al-Nassr involving Ange Postecoglou this season.

Guillem Balague said in a post on X that Ronaldo rebelled against Al-Nassr’s Australian manager on 25 August in the Roshn League. He struggled in the first half, left for the dressing room alone at the interval, was substituted at the start of the second half, then departed the stadium rather than sit on the bench.

The incident came in the third round against Al-Ettifaq. Al-Nassr trailed 2-0 at half-time, then came back to win 3-2 with Ronaldo already off the pitch.

Postecoglou did not address the matter in his post-match press conference, and it remained under wraps until now.

On Wednesday in Copenhagen, Ronaldo left the Portugal camp after a disagreement with Jesus over his omission from the Norway match in the second round of the UEFA Nations League. For Al-Nassr this season he has made seven appearances across the Roshn League and the AFC Champions League Elite, scoring three goals and providing no assists.
