Nico Williams sends message of support to Cristiano Ronaldo | OneFootball

Athletic Club star Nico Williams has on Friday become the latest high-profile football figure to make public his backing for Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

This of course comes amid a drama-filled last couple of days for the veteran frontman…

After listening to the words of Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus during a press conference on Wednesday, in response to his status as an unused substitute against Norway, Ronaldo made the call to depart national team duty with immediate effect.

The 41-year-old from here took to social media, to assure that ‘in due time, I will tell the truth to all Portuguese people about the reasons that motivated my departure from the national team’.

Whilst many have been quick to criticise Ronaldo for what they deem to be a lack of respect to his fellow countrymen, others have thrown their full backing behind the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

And as alluded to above, on Friday, one of La Liga’s most recognisable stars has added his name to the latter group…

In a post on his official Instagram account, Spain and Athletic Club winger Nico Williams unveiled a video of Ronaldo, featuring the caption:

‘Work because you have more to show’
