João Cancelo injury update after Barcelona 1-0 Rayo Vallecano | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an update on the wellbeing of defensive star João Cancelo.

This comes after the Portuguese was forced into a premature departure from the club’s latest outing.

Barcelona were of course back in action earlier this evening, in a La Liga meeting with Rayo Vallecano.

Amid the ongoing injury problems in the Blaugrana’s backline, the aforementioned Cancelo featured from the off in the fixture, and laid on the assist for his side’s only goal in a hard-fought win.

Inside the closing moments at the Spotify Camp Nou, however, the former Manchester City man went to ground in evident discomfort.

From here, Cancelo was hauled off, replaced by youngster Xavi Espart.

Speaking to the media post-match, Hansi Flick was therefore asked if his versatile full-back has picked up any kind of injury setback.

And Barca’s headmaster went on to assure:

“He’s not injured. It was incredible to see how tired he was but he kept playing until we could finally sub him out.”
