Chelsea have had another difficult season in which they are paying the price for poor decisions made at ownership level.
The Blues didn’t have a good enough summer window, and opted to appoint a rookie manager in Liam Rosenior half way through the season after Enzo Maresca walked out.
Chelsea’s season now hangs in the balance, and the Blues are in grave danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League.
In fact Chelsea have qualified for the Champions League just once in three years under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership.
The Blues have spent vast amounts of money on players, but are still lacking in key areas, with Matt Law stating Chelsea need a wake up call.
It appears to be obvious to everyone what the Blues need, other than those making the decisions, and Cole has accused the club of buying players as assets rather than to win matches.
“The new ownership group has come in and they spent a lot of money initially, wasted a lot of money, in my opinion, on not getting the right players in through the door,” he told The Dressing Room Podcast.
“Over £1billion has been spent on the premise that these lads will develop and become players, and some of them will become great players.
“But the Chelsea fans are upset because they don’t feel like they’re competing, and they’re not really.
“You’re not buying players to win games of football, you’re buying players as an asset and I don’t think that ever works.”
Despite the growing pressure on Rosenior after a poor run of results, the Blues appear to still be backing their man.
Rosenior will be under no illusion he’s got to pick results up quickly otherwise he’ll pay the ultimate price and lose his job.

However, with the way the Blues are currently playing and an apparent lack of belief in his tactics it’s hard to see where any points are coming from at the moment.
