According to AS, Burgos forward Jon Karrikaburu tested positive in a breathalyser check in Pamplona on Sunday. The 23-year-old returned a reading of 0.73 milligrams, which could be treated as an alleged road safety offence.

He was on a scheduled rest day after Friday’s match at El Plantío against Ceuta, where he made his first start for Burgos and scored in a 3-1 victory.

Born in Elizondo, Karrikaburu joined Burgos this season after parting ways with Real Sociedad, with whom he had been under contract, and he signed a two-year deal.

Karrikaburu trained this morning at the club’s training ground with his team-mates as preparations continued for Sunday’s game against Las Palmas.

Burgos have not issued an official statement on the matter, but the club’s internal code will be applied, which includes at least a financial sanction in such cases.
