Canada have finally registered a victory in the Men's World Cup after beating Qatar 6-0 on Thursday in Vancouver.

The star man of the show was one Jonathan David, who finally found his way to the back of the net as he so often does for his country.

After a miserable performance that sparked widespread controversy, the 26-year-old Juventus ace scored his first-ever World Cup goal with a stunning volley.

Then he went on to add more. His second was an instinctual pounce in the box from point-blank range and the historic third arrived after a slick turn to evade his defender.

In doing all this, David became just the second CONCACAF player to net a hat trick at the World Cup.

The last to do so was American Bert Patenaude in 1930. That's a stunning 96 years ago!

And looking at the team collectively, Canada becomes the first team from outside Europe and South America to score five or more goals in a World Cup match.

The hosts aren't afraid to show that they do, in fact, belong - with an in-form David leading the way.
