Jordan Ayew, 34, has suffered the fifth relegation of his career. Leicester dropped into League One after a 2-2 home draw with Hull City on Tuesday, when he came on as a substitute.
L'Équipe notes that the Ghana forward has gone down with four different clubs across a career spanning seven teams, namely Marseille, Sochaux, Lorient, Aston Villa, Swansea, Crystal Palace and Leicester. Marseille, Lorient and Crystal Palace are the exceptions.
Ten years after their stunning Premier League triumph, Leicester have endured consecutive relegations, first from the top flight to the Championship last season, then again this term.
Ayew’s relegation record reads Sochaux during a six-month loan in 2014, Aston Villa in 2015-2016, Swansea in 2017-2018, then Leicester in each of the last two seasons. The Ghana international has 117 caps and 33 goals.
He came through at Marseille and played there from 2009 to 2014, spent a loan spell at Lorient from January to June 2014, and was at Crystal Palace between 2018 and 2024.
