Jordan James has bid farewell to Leicester City, expressing his disappointment and wishing the club well after relegation ended hopes of a permanent deal.
The player said in a post that it had been a frustrating season, that he felt love from supporters since arriving, and that he wishes the club and fans the best for the future.
Leicester had taken him on loan from Stade Rennais with an option to buy for around £5m. He will return to France, though a move back to England, either in the Championship or Premier League, is likely.
The 21-year-old finished as City’s top scorer with 11 goals and collected the Championship’s young player of the season award.
A hamstring strain picked up in the draw at Wrexham in January sidelined him for six matches. He then suffered a heel issue on Wales duty in March, restricting him to one start in City’s final seven fixtures.
City earned 33 points from the 27 matches he started, compared with 19 points from 19 games without him.
