José Boto unsure over Flamengo future, says only Bap can decide | OneFootball

José Boto stopped short of guaranteeing he will remain at Flamengo amid a planned reshuffle following Filipe Luís’s dismissal. According to Coluna Do Fla, the club have already sounded out potential replacements.

The football director said he had received no communication from president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, Bap, adding that any question over his continuity should be put to him. He called for calm in his work, adding that football teaches you to be ready to leave and that he departs clubs without rancour.

Boto spoke on Sunday after Flamengo won the Campeonato Carioca on penalties against Fluminense.

Bap publicly dismissed the rumours as untrue and chose to focus on celebrating a state title treble, saying much of the week’s talk had been nonsense.

Despite that, Edu Gaspar, the former Arsenal and Brazil director who is in the process of leaving Nottingham Forest, said Flamengo had approached him. Fábio Luciano, the ex-Flamengo defender now with ESPN, also held talks and opted to remain with the broadcaster.
