José Mourinho said he has received an official offer from a foreign club but no approach from Real Madrid, speaking before Benfica’s trip to Estoril.

According to CMTV, Mourinho will return to Real Madrid, with formal confirmation in the coming days and a presentation next week.

He explained that his agent met Benfica and told him there is an official proposal to send over. Mourinho said he asked for it to arrive on Sunday. He added he has never been told there was an offer to be shown, and would respond the same way if there were.

The match in Amoreira could mark his final moments in Portuguese football before a high-profile return to Spain. Marco Silva could be the replacement.

Benfica visit Estoril on Saturday, 16 May, in the 34th and final round of the Portuguese league. Ian Cathro’s side host at Estádio António Coimbra da Mota, with kick-off at 20:30.
