José Mourinho, the Benfica head coach, attended Vitória de Setúbal’s match at Estádio do Bonfim, a day after Benfica’s draw with Famalicão.
According to Glorioso 1904, he chose to watch Vitória de Setúbal against Alfarim in the 26th round of the AF Setúbal First Division.
His visit coincided with a decisive occasion for the Setúbal side, who sealed the district title and a return to the Campeonato de Portugal. The club only needed to take points from the fixture to meet that target.
Mourinho was not alone, joined in the stands by Benfica staff Nuno Santos, the goalkeeping coach, and Ricardo Formosinho, as well as his friend and biographer Luís Lourenço.
It was also not his first trip to the Bonfim this season, having previously watched Vitória de Setúbal defeat Sesimbra.
The appearance underlined Mourinho’s connection to his home town club, while he continues his work at Benfica.
