Liverpool’s pursuit of Bradley Barcola appears to be gathering momentum, with fresh discussions reportedly taking place between the club and the French winger’s representatives. According to Graeme Bailey for TeamTalk, Liverpool have received further encouragement that the Paris Saint-Germain forward is increasingly likely to leave the French champions before the transfer window closes.
The report suggests that Barcola has now become Liverpool’s leading attacking target after developments surrounding RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande forced the recruitment team to reassess their plans. With Andoni Iraola now beginning a new era at Anfield, Liverpool’s recruitment strategy is understandably evolving, and Barcola seemingly ticks many of the boxes the club are prioritising.
TeamTalk reports that, “Liverpool have spoken again with Barcola’s representatives in recent days and received further encouragement that the 23-year-old is preparing to leave the Parc des Princes before the transfer window closes.”
That represents another significant step in what could become one of the headline transfer stories of the summer.

Barcola’s frustrations in Paris have been well documented throughout recent months. Despite being highly rated internally, opportunities have become increasingly limited within Luis Enrique’s wealth of attacking talent.
As TeamTalk explains, “Barcola has informed PSG he would seek a move after becoming increasingly frustrated with his role under Luis Enrique.”
His reduced involvement during PSG’s Champions League campaign appears to have reinforced that feeling. Featuring only briefly in decisive knockout fixtures has reportedly convinced the France international that regular first team football may now lie elsewhere.
Interestingly, the report notes that both Luis Enrique and sporting adviser Luis Campos would ideally like to retain the winger. However, they also acknowledge his desire to become an undisputed starter, something PSG’s current squad depth makes increasingly difficult.
Those circumstances have naturally alerted several of Europe’s elite clubs.
While Liverpool have received encouragement regarding Barcola’s willingness to move, the financial aspect remains substantial.
TeamTalk reports that PSG value the winger at around €120 million, effectively mirroring the fee they anticipate paying if they complete their pursuit of Yan Diomande.
Importantly, the report adds that Liverpool have “not been discouraged” by those demands.

That wording suggests the club view Barcola as a player worthy of significant investment, particularly given the long term planning around Liverpool’s attack following Mohamed Salah’s departure.
It is also notable that PSG’s expected double move worth around €200 million for Diomande and Maghnes Akliouche could help accelerate Barcola’s exit as they continue reshaping their squad.
Liverpool’s recruitment department appears determined not to repeat previous frustrations in the market.
According to TeamTalk, while Barcola is now the priority, the club continue monitoring several alternative options. Those include Yankuba Minteh, Said El Mala, Christian Pulisic, Bazoumana Traore and Matias Fernandez Pardo.
That reflects a disciplined approach to recruitment rather than becoming overly reliant on one transfer.
Competition also remains fierce.
Arsenal continue monitoring Barcola closely, while Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have all maintained varying levels of interest.
Nevertheless, TeamTalk states that Liverpool and Arsenal currently appear to be showing the strongest intent to secure the French international’s signature.
Should Barcola remain committed to leaving Paris and maintain his stance against signing a new contract, Liverpool may believe conditions are gradually becoming more favourable despite the enormous valuation involved.
From a Liverpool perspective, this report feels encouraging for several reasons.
Firstly, Bradley Barcola fits the profile Liverpool have consistently targeted over recent years. At 23 years old, he combines elite pace with technical quality and still possesses considerable room for development. Under Andoni Iraola, whose football demands intensity, direct running and relentless pressing, Barcola could flourish.
Secondly, it is reassuring that Liverpool are reportedly refusing to become consumed by one transfer. Missing out on Yan Diomande appears to have reinforced an important lesson. Modern transfer windows move quickly, and elite clubs need several options progressing simultaneously. Having names like Yankuba Minteh and Christian Pulisic on the shortlist demonstrates sensible contingency planning.
The financial aspect cannot be ignored. A fee approaching €120 million would represent one of Liverpool’s biggest ever investments. Even with FSG prepared to back Iraola’s rebuild, supporters will naturally wonder whether that figure leaves room to strengthen elsewhere in midfield or defence.
That said, truly elite forwards rarely become available. If Liverpool genuinely believe Barcola can become the face of their next generation, this may be the moment to act decisively.
There is also something encouraging about the player’s reported mindset. Wanting regular football rather than accepting a squad role at PSG suggests ambition and confidence. Those are qualities Liverpool supporters have traditionally embraced.
Nothing appears close to completion, and plenty can still change. Arsenal remain involved, PSG could yet attempt to convince him to stay, and valuations may shift as negotiations develop.
Even so, if Graeme Bailey’s reporting proves accurate, Liverpool appear to have placed themselves firmly in the conversation for one of Europe’s most exciting wide attackers. For supporters hoping Iraola’s first summer delivers a genuine statement signing, Barcola increasingly looks like the name to watch.
