Justo Izaguirre, Athletic’s member number one, dies aged 104 | OneFootball

Athletic announced on Tuesday the death of Justo Izaguirre, aged 104, the club’s member number one.

The club said in a statement that it offered condolences to his family and friends, closing with the Basque phrase “Gugan bego”.

It also shared photographs of the long-serving member, including a red and white shirt bearing “Aitite 100”, from a tribute in August 2022 after a friendly against Alavés at Lezama.

At that time he had just turned 100 and was member number 3.

President Jon Uriarte and head coach Ernesto Valverde posed with Izaguirre, joined by first-team players Iker Muniain, Iñaki Williams and Óscar de Marcos.

They surprised the centenarian with a personalised shirt during an emotional presentation, which the club has recalled as a tribute.
