Juventus picked up a 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina two days ago in the Serie A but the next game could be decisive for Thiago Motta’s future.
The pressure is growing on the ex-midfielder, with Juve now out of the top four. Fabiana della Valle has reported that as of now, the club is fully behind Motta and in helping him make sure that the Bianconeri finish inside the top four this season.
Yesterday, he had a conversation with sporting director Cristiano Guintoli, as technical and tactical issues were addressed. It was told to Motta that an immediate change of direction is needed. It was told to him that a defeat against Genoa could land him on the edge of an exit as it will leave them further behind the top four.
The situation has been described as ‘critical’. While the club doesn’t want to sack a manager mid-season and they rather have Motta at the helm in June, things can change if the situation isn’t repaired. Igor Tudor and Roberto Mancini will be willing to takeover immediately but they do not want to be interim managers.
Stefano Pioli’s name is the most intriguing one for the club. Gian Piero Gasperini and Antonio Conte are liked by they are managing at clubs in Italy.
