Juventus are prioritising a free transfer for Manchester City’s outgoing captain Bernardo Silva in the summer transfer window, as per a new report.
Silva has confirmed that he will not be extending a nine-year stay at the Etihad Stadium as he prepares to leave City when his contract expires in June.
The 31-year-old’s emotional farewell message has prompted an outpour of messages on social media from former and current teammates for one of Manchester City‘s most decorated players.

After a 1-0 win away at Burnley last week, the Portugal international became Manchester City’s player with the highest number of Premier League wins (215), overtaking David Silva (214). Silva also overtook Mike Summerbee (452) to become the club’s eighth highest appearance maker (453) in all competitions.
As reported by journalist Matteo Moretto on YouTube, Juventus are prioritising the signing of the Manchester City captain on a free transfer this summer.
It has been said that fresh contacts between Juventus and Silva’s representatives are ‘due soon’ – as clubs across Europe line up to stake a claim for the midfielder.
Silva has an option to return to former club Benfica if he would like to move back to his homeland in Portugal, having also attracted interest from Barcelona among clubs in western Spain over the years.
Paris Saint-Germain were heavily linked with the six-time Premier League winner in 2022 but Silva has stuck around and forged his legacy as one of Manchester City’s greatest players.
Manchester City director of football Hugo Viana will sign a new midfielder this summer and the Blues are frontrunners to sign Nottingham Forest and England star Elliot Anderson.

City are also negotiating a new contract with Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, who has interest from Real Madrid, as they also keep an eye on the future(s) of Sandro Tonali and Enzo Fernandez at Newcastle United and Chelsea respectively.
The Blues may decide to sign two new midfielders ahead of the 2026-27 campaign but Nico O’Reilly‘s versatility and the option of playing Tijjani Reijnders in a deep-lying position would allow City to make do with one fresh addition for next season.
Nico Gonzalez‘s future is also up for deliberation this summer as the 24-year-old Spaniard has struggled for minutes since Rodri’s return to fitness in January.
