Juventus set to have just one Italian start against Sassuolo | OneFootball

Juventus have traditionally been the club that supplies a lot of players to the Italian national team, but the Bianconeri have since lost that edge as they invest more heavily in talents from outside the country.

A year ago, Damien Comolli opted to invest in players from outside Serie A, bringing in the likes of Jonathan David and Lois Openda, who failed to do well for the team.

Juve invested in at least one Serie A player this summer, but they will be without most of their small Italian core when they face Sassuolo this weekend after Manuel Locatelli suffered a serious injury.

Juve have been doing their best to ensure the team performs well and will not mind if they have more Italian players or fewer than their rivals, as long as they get results.

However, Football Italia reports that Guglielmo Vicario is set to be the only Italian player in the Bianconeri starting XI for their match against Sassuolo this weekend.

Juventus missing Italian options

Locatelli could have started if he were fit, while Federico Gatti is not yet a player who regularly starts matches for the Bianconeri, despite his recent heroics as a super substitute.

The absence of several Italian players means Juventus will have to rely heavily on the rest of their squad against Sassuolo. Their lack of Italian starters could be viewed as a significant change from the club’s traditional role in supplying players to the national team.

Nevertheless, Juventus have continued to focus on building a squad capable of competing at the highest level, regardless of the nationalities represented within it.

Bianconeri still favourites

In the absence of the Italians, Juve still have one of the strongest teams in the league, and they will be expected to have enough quality to overcome Sassuolo.

The black and greens will provide a difficult challenge, particularly with the match taking place at their home ground, but Juventus will be determined to secure the result they need.

Their priority remains achieving success on the pitch, and the composition of their starting XI will matter less if they can maintain their strong performances and collect the points.

Despite the limited number of Italian players expected to start, Juventus remain well equipped for the challenge, and we expect them to get the job done against the black and greens.
