Kaio César has been cleared by the Superior Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva of an aggression charge from a half-time clash during Corinthians’ 1-1 draw at Bahia in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

According to Meu Timao, the forward had been cited under article 250 of the CBJD for an alleged disloyal or hostile act after a confrontation with Alejo Véliz moments after the half-time whistle. Véliz went to ground simulating he had been struck, sparking a melee.

Defences presented TV Globo footage and CBF clips with audio between on-field officials and the video team. The VAR advised against sending off Kaio César, saying there was no hand to the face, only an arm used to fend off an opponent.

Prosecutor Danilo Carvalho then requested acquittal after reviewing the origin of the fracas, saying he could not identify Kaio as the instigator or find a hostile act. The panel voted to absolve the Corinthians number 37.

Both clubs were charged under article 257 for brawl participation, and hosts Bahia under article 213 for failing to prevent disorder. The panel judged the incident was not a large-scale tumult, so both were cleared and Bahia avoided sanction.

The teams were punished under article 206 for delayed returns, six minutes for Bahia and five for Corinthians, fined R$ 1,000 per minute. Corinthians were fined R$ 5,000 and Bahia R$ 6,000.

Referee Ramon Abatti Abel was also cited under article 266 for not recording the incidents in the match report, however with no disciplinary offence established and VAR having reviewed the details, he was cleared.
