Leeds United have been handed a boost in their bid to keep Karl Darlow, with Manchester United’s goalkeeper plans on hold and a new deal on the table at Elland Road.

Daily Mail reports that United want a dependable number two and have held talks over Darlow, but cannot commit until departures are finalised. The plan is to move on Andrew Onana after his Trabzonspor loan, with Altay Bayindir also tipped to leave.

With Illan Meslier leaving at the end of his contract, Daniel Farke is reshaping his goalkeeping group. Darlow became first choice in the second half of last season and is now a priority to retain.

The Old Trafford pause gives Leeds chief Paraag Marathe valuable leverage in negotiations. While United wait on exits, Leeds have a clearer run to try to finalise the proposed two-year extension.

The former Newcastle keeper steadied Leeds in high-pressure spells after replacing Lucas Perri. Keeping him would protect squad planning and reduce the risk of needing two new goalkeepers in one window.
